Counselling can be used to address various kinds of emotional and psychological distress and the causes of distress. It can help to support you to build confidence, and increase your self-awareness, forming healthy habits and coping strategies.
For example, you might be feeling anxious, sad, fearful, uptight or stressed and you might be experiencing or have experienced relationships issues, family conflicts, workplace stress,  trauma, low motivation, or low self-confidence.
Counselling can also be useful if you’re simply trying to figure yourself or your life out. It gives you the space to explore who you are and what you really want from life
.

As a person-centred counsellor, I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to direct or judge, but to walk alongside you — offering a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and accepted.

Together, we can:

  • Explore      what’s going on for you
  • Make      sense of difficult thoughts, feelings, or experiences
  • Build      resilience and self-awareness
  • Develop      practical tools to support your wellbeing

I also offer the option to integrate elements of yoga and EFT, creating a holistic approach if that feels supportive for you.

EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique is often referred to as Tapping and is based on the premise that all negative emotions are the result of a disruption in the body’s energy system. Developed from the ancient Chinese meridian energy system – it is a form of emotional acupuncture without the needles. This practical tool involves tapping with fingertips on specific acupuncture points on the hands, face and body while giving focused attention to uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. This method helps to rebalance the body’s energy system and alter how the brain responds to negative thoughts.

Tapping can help in the following ways

  • Relieve stress and promote general relaxation.
  • Release and transform uncomfortable emotions like anxiety, sadness, anger, guilt      and frustration.
  • Identify, explore and resolve limiting thinking and habits of behaviour.
  • Gently  and appropriately heal the effects of trauma and more.

Whether on your own or with an experienced EFT practitioner, tapping helps you discover just how your thoughts ,beliefs and emotions affect your body and your life – and how you can more consciously make the changes you desire.

Have you noticed heightened alertness, persistent anxiety, or difficulty finding calm? Trauma can deeply influence your nervous system, and these symptoms are common responses. When you’ve experienced trauma, your body’s fight, flight, or freeze response might become overactive, making it hard to return to a sense of safety. Do you struggle with hypervigilance, sleep disturbances, or trouble concentrating? These are signs your nervous system may be dysregulated.

Over time, you might find yourself reacting more strongly to stress, even in situations that aren’t actually threatening. If you relate to this, trauma-informed yoga offers gentle ways to help you regulate your nervous system. Using a 3 stage approach drawing on a full range of yoga practices  including  mindful movement, breathwork, and a practice environment that supports safety and choice, you can work towards feeling more balanced and secure.

If you would like to try an approach that meets you where you are, supporting your journey to calm and healing then get in touch.
